Hello World,
This is Dave and I retired just under a year ago. Now I wile away most of my spare time sitting in front of my flat screen TV eating bon bons. Sometimes I even turn the TV on when I can find the remote. I did get off my tail to do a few things in the past year. I sailed (1400 miles) from St. Thomas VI to Bradenton Florida.
I rowed a raft 100 miles down the Middle fork of the Salmon River,
and have ridden my unicycle 720 miles so far this year.
The purpose of this blog is document the foolhardy adventures I plan to take while exploring this big blue marble. Unicycle, sailboat, whitewater kayaks, and rafts are my preferred method of travel.
Presently I am planning two adventures in the near future. In late January I’m headed off with some friends to Costa Rica to kayak whitewater rivers. I have never been there before and hope that my occasional paddling on class II-III Slippery Rock creek has adequately prepared me.
I have always wanted to cycle across the country, which takes me to the second adventure. The plan is to drive out to San Diego in late February and unicycle from there to St. Augustine Florida with the aid of a support vehicle.
Hey Dave – sounds like the adventure is moving along well. Might want to consider starting early in that heat… none of that 7:30 – 8 a.m. retired guy stuff! First light, my friend. Then done by 2 p.m. Bill
I’m already going to bed at 9:30 pm and sleeping to 7:00 am. If I get started any earlier I would have to go to bed before dark
